1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using StoryPass ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. Description of Service
StoryPass is a password generation service that creates memorable, cryptographically secure passwords using a story-based methodology.
2.1 What We Provide
- Password generation using CSPRNG
- Story-based memorable formats
- Swap/customization features
- Entropy metrics
2.2 What We Don't Provide
- Password storage (use a password manager)
- Account recovery for forgotten passwords
- Guarantees about third-party acceptance
3. User Accounts
3.1 Free Tier
- No registration required
- Usage limits apply (see Section 5)
- May require CAPTCHA for abuse prevention
3.2 Paid Accounts
- Email address required
- Valid payment method required
- Subject to subscription terms
3.3 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your account credentials secure
- All activity under your account
- Notifying us of unauthorized access
4. Subscription Terms

5. Fair Use Policy
5.1 Usage Limits

- Rate limit excessive requests
- Block automated/scripted abuse
- Suspend accounts violating these terms
6. Acceptable Use
6.1 You May
- Generate passwords for personal use
- Generate passwords for your organization (business plans)
- Integrate via API (with appropriate plan)
- Share the service with others
6.2 You May NOT
- Resell generated passwords
- Use automated tools to circumvent rate limits
- Attempt to reverse-engineer the service
- Use for illegal purposes
- Interfere with service operation
- Scrape or harvest data
7. Intellectual Property
7.1 Our IP
- StoryPass name, logo, and branding
- Service code and infrastructure
- Corpus data and curation methodology
7.2 Your Rights
- Generated passwords belong to you
- Use them however you wish
- No restrictions on password content
8. Disclaimers
8.1 Service Provided "As Is"
STORYPASS IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
8.2 No Security Guarantees
While we use industry-standard security practices:
- We cannot guarantee absolute security
- You are responsible for password storage
- Third-party systems may reject our passwords
8.3 Password Responsibility
If you forget a password, we cannot recover it. Use a password manager for storage.
9. Limitation of Liability
9.1 Exclusion of Damages
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, STORYPASS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS OR SECURITY BREACHES.
9.2 Maximum Liability
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify StoryPass from claims arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Violation of these Terms
- Infringement of third-party rights
11. API Terms
11.1 API Access
- Available on Level 2 and Enterprise plans
- Requires API key (keep it secret)
- Subject to rate limits
11.2 API Usage
- Use for intended purposes only
- Don't share API keys
- Don't circumvent rate limits
11.3 API Changes
We may modify the API with reasonable notice. Breaking changes will be announced 30 days in advance.
12. Termination
12.1 By You
Cancel anytime. Access continues until billing period ends.
12.2 By Us
We may terminate or suspend accounts for:
- Violation of these Terms
- Abuse or fraud
- Non-payment
- Legal requirements
12.3 Effect of Termination
- Access to Service ends
- Data retained per Privacy Policy
- No refund for remaining period (unless required by law)
13. Changes to Terms
13.1 Modifications
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated via:
- Email (registered users)
- Website notice
- 30 days advance notice for material changes
13.2 Continued Use
Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of new Terms.
14. Governing Law
14.1 Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the applicable jurisdiction, without regard to conflict of law principles.
14.2 Dispute Resolution
- First: Contact support to resolve informally
- Then: Binding arbitration (for disputes under $10,000)
- Finally: Courts of competent jurisdiction
14.3 Class Action Waiver
You agree to resolve disputes individually, not as part of a class action.
15. Miscellaneous
15.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and StoryPass.
15.2 Severability
If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect.
15.3 No Waiver
Failure to enforce a right doesn't waive future enforcement.
15.4 Assignment
We may assign these Terms. You may not without our consent.
